Buckeye Chuck predicts 6 more weeks of winter

MARION, OH (WOIO) - It's Groundhog Day. Feb. 2, is a popular tradition in the United States. It is the day that the Groundhog comes out of his hole after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow.

A shadow means six more weeks of winter. No shadow equals an early spring. Everyone knows about Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania. Around 7:30 a.m. Phil did not see his shadow, which means an early spring.

But here in northern Ohio we have Buckeye Chuck in Marion. Chuck did see his shadow and that means another six weeks of winter.

It's important to point out. Chuck's spring prediction record the last two years is 0-2.
