Cleveland Clinic ranked second best hospital in nation by U.S. News & World Report

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland Clinic was ranked the number two U.S. hospital in the nation in a recent study by U.S. News and World Report. The rankings are based on factors like patient survival, safety, staffing and more.

The Clinic, which is ranked as the number one hospital in Ohio and in the Cleveland area, has placed top five in the organization's rankings of hospitals for the last 18 years, but this year it was able to climb to the number two spot.

The hospital also retained its ranking for number one hospital for cardiology and heart surgery for its 22nd consecutive year. In total, 13 Cleveland Clinic specialties placed in the top ten nationally, including nine in the top three.

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN ranked first overall.

University Hospitals placed second in Cleveland and third in Ohio, with national rankings in eight specialties.
