ASHLAND, OH (WOIO) - Three bodies were found in northeast Ohio on Tuesday -- two in Ashland and another in Mansfield.
It started when officers were dispatched to a report of a woman being held against her will in Ashland. They found the woman in the house at 363 Covert Court. Shawn Michael Grate, 30, was also located at the home.
The woman found alive is not listed as a missing person.
The houses at 363 and 365 Covert Court were supposed to be unoccupied, authorities said. While processing the scene, two bodies were found.
Grate provided information to authorities that led them to a third body in Richland County. The Mansfield house is located at 1027 Park Ave. West. The third body was found 60 feet into the woods behind the now burned out and abandoned home.
The woman found alive has not been identified as of Tuesday night, and neither have any of the bodies.
Ashland police, along with the Ashland County Sheriff's Office, Ashland County Prosecutor's Office, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, are investigating the Ashland scene. The case was listed as a missing person abduction case earlier in the day Tuesday.
Grate is being held at the Ashland County Jail on an abduction charge.
