(RNN) - Target announced Monday that it will stop selling clown masks in the wake of the countless creepy clown sightings that have bedeviled America.
With Halloween just around the corner, the masks will no longer be available online nor in the brick-and-mortar Targets, said company spokesman Joshua Thomas.
The retail giant made the call out of "sensitivity to the issue at hand," the representative said.
People dressing up like clowns and scaring people in real life and on social media has been going on for months, and has jumped the pond to Europe and beyond.
Earlier this month, McDonald's announced that clown mascot Ronald McDonald will be taking a lower profile until this whole creepy clown thing blows over.
