MetroHealth asks employees not to wear Chief Wahoo apparel
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland Indians are in the hunt for a World Series title. Fans have been rocking their Indians gear all week. A Cleveland hospital encouraged its employees to wear team apparel or red, white and blue colors.
However, employees were asked not to wear Chief Wahoo-branded apparel on Spirit Day.
There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the Indians red-faced caricature for years and this year is no different. Demonstrators have been outside the ballpark protesting the franchise's logo.
MetroHealth Medical Center said the decision to have employees refrain from wearing Chief Wahoo is part of complying with the hospital's core values, which include respect, inclusion and diversity.
