Man assaults victim in car near Kent State University

KENT, OH (WOIO) - A person was assaulted near the campus of Kent State University on Monday night.

The victim told police that they were approached by a man shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the area of the University Oaks Apartments. The man said that he had car trouble and needed help. He asked the victim to get in the car and help him start it, but, once inside the car, the man began to assault the victim.

The victim was able to run away without further incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 6' and 6'2" with a muscular build. He had close cut hair and was wearing gray or silver sweat pants and a long sleeve navy blue University of Akron sweatshirt. He was driving a late model vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic, that was silver or light gold.
