CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - One man has been taken to University Hospitals in stable condition after being shot by a police officer early Friday morning.

The shooting happened at the First Energy sub center at 4295 East 146th St. Officers responded to calls around 1:30 a.m. for trespassers. Upon entering, they found a group of four men who they believe were scrappers.

Police say the suspects fired shots at the officers, who returned fire, hitting one 18-year-old suspect in the shoulder.

The other three suspects fled the scene. Two 17-year-old suspects were apprehended by officers, while one is still on the loose.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Both officers were wearing body cameras. They were placed on administrative leave as per protocol.
