Police: Beachwood Place mall disturbance 'loosely organized on social media'
BEACHWOOD, OH (WOIO) - A sizable group of juveniles caused a large-scale disturbance at Beachwood Place mall on Monday, police said.
They added it appeared to have been loosely organized on social media.
Authorities dispersed the juveniles and removed them from the premises.
No injuries were reported.
One male juvenile was arrested for attempting to strike an officer that was dealing with another disorderly patron, police said. There were no further arrests.
One report of gun shots being fired was quickly determined to be unfounded.
The mall was placed on lockdown around 7 p.m. but later reopened.
A woman who works inside the mall said she witnessed a crowd running in panic.
An ambulance arrived on scene around 7:30 p.m.
Beachwood Place is located near the intersection of Cedar and Richmond roads.
