Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, Michigan residents asked to be on alert for Facebook shooting suspect

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - An aggravated murder warrant was issued late Sunday night for Steve Stephens, 37. A detective requested a high bond for the warrant.

Police say he shot and killed 74-year-old Robert Godwin, Sr., then post the video on Facebook around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Shortly after the video, Stephens went live on Facebook explaining what he did.

Police say Stephens may be out of state. Residents of states of Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana and Michigan are asked to be on alert.

Stephens also claimed to have committed multiple other homicides. Police have not verified that information.

Description of Stephens

  • He is described as a black man
  • 6 foot 1, 244 pounds
  • Bald with a full beard
  • Wearing a dark blue and grey or black striped polo shirt
  • White or cream-colored SUV

Police said he is considered armed and dangerous. If seen call 9-1-1, do not approach the suspect, authorities said.
