COLUMBUS, OH (WOIO) - What would you do if you found a large amount of money? Would you keep it or turn it over to police?

One Columbus family faced that dilemma when they found $14,000.

The Bowers family was driving down the street when they spotted a bag laying in the road and turned around to get it. Inside were envelopes stuffed with hundred dollar bills.

The parents said they didn't hesitate to turn it in, and it was an opportunity to teach their kids to do the right thing.

"While that money could have meant paying off our cars or going on vacation to us, it may have meant groceries to sustenance for someone else," said Jake Bowers.

Police said the owner of the money was taking it to a dealership to buy a car.

The owner says he probably left the money on the roof of his car after leaving without making a purchase.
