Gov. Kasich says President Trump wasn't invited to Ohio rally

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - President Donald Trump appeared in Ohio this weekend to show support for a Republican congressional candidate, but Gov. John Kasich says the president showed up without an invitation.

The president was in Ohio Saturday night to rally votes for House candidate Troy Balderson, a Republican campaigning in a special election scheduled for Tuesday.

Balderson says he did not invite the president to the rally, according to Gov. Kasich.

"I asked him the other day, 'Why are you bringing Trump in? He said, 'Well I don't have anything to do with it," Gov. Kasich said during a TV appearance on Sunday morning.

"I said. 'Troy, why did you invite Trump in here? The president. He said, 'No I didn't,'" Kasich added. "So, you know, I think Donald Trump decides where he wants to go, and I think they think they're firing up the base."
