CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland man has pleaded guilty to the drive-by shooting of a four-year-old boy.

Jonathon Smith, 22, fired multiple shots at another vehicle in the area of I-90 and Dead Man's Curve on Aug. 7, 2017.

Marquis Wellington Junior was hit in the head.

Wellington was rushed to University Hospitals where he had emergency surgery to remove bullet fragments, no bullets penetrated his brain.

Doctors say Wellington has made a full recovery.

Wellington was riding in the car with his mom and sister and Cleveland police said Smith fired into the car, because Wellington's mom honked her horn at his car in the area of W. 28th and Division Ave.

Smith will be sentenced on Aug. 15.

A jury found a second suspect, Leon Edwards, not guilty in connection with this shooting.
