Inmate mistakenly released from Ohio jail should be considered 'armed and dangerous'

RICHLAND COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Law enforcement officers in Ohio are searching for a man who was mistakenly released from the Richland County Jail.

According to the sheriff's office, 22-year-old Cornelius J. Phillips left the jail Tuesday afternoon with an individual driving a blue Hyundai Sonata.

He was initially placed in jail by Mansfield police on Aug. 29 on charges for drug possession, expired operators license, endangering children, and falsification.

Phillips is described as an African-American male with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

The sheriff's office says he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The U.S. Marshals Service, local law enforcement, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are working to locate Phillips. A warrant has been issued with the authority to arrest nationwide.

If anybody has information regarding Phillips' location, contact police immediately.
