Soldier pleads guilty to strangling in love triangle

MEDINA, Ohio - A soldier from northeast Ohio has pleaded guilty to strangling his estranged wife's new companion at a home in Brunswick.

Shawn Cleland, 26, pleaded guilty Monday in Medina. He could get life in prison at his sentencing on April 28.

Cleland flew home in October from his Hawaii assignment and strangled David Heinricht. The soldier was arrested at the Cleveland airport while waiting for a flight back to Honolulu.
