Man Rescues Daughter From Collapsed Snow Tunnel

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man pulled his ten-year-old daughter out of a collapsed tunnel of snow yesterday and revived her.

Robert VanHoose says a boy from the neighborhood ran to his house in Eaton Township, near Elyria, to tell him that his daughter Lanetta was stuck in the snow.

The girl went headfirst into a tunnel she dug in a pile of snow, but then the tunnel collapsed.

VanHoose says he ran outside and saw only the girl's feet and a shovel. He says he started digging, then grabbed her legs and pulled. The girl had turned blue and was unresponsive, so he gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

VanHoose says his daughter was taken to a hospital and is going to be fine. He plans new rules for his kids on playing in the snow.
