Honda Leads Environmental Group's Report

DETROIT (AP) - When it comes to producing "green" cars, Honda is tops while American automakers are bringing up the rear.

The latest study by the Union of Concerned Scientists looked at the performance of the top eight auto producers when it came to smog emissions and global warming. Honda was followed by Toyota, Korea's Hyundai-Kia, Nissan and Volkswagen.

Trailing were Ford, General Motors and DaimlerChrysler.

It's the fourth straight time that Honda has earned the honor of "Greenest Automaker."

The study's author says the results show there's still a big gap between the cleanest and dirtiest vehicles.
