Embattled Director of Agency in "Caged Kids" Case Resigns

NORWALK, Ohio (AP) - The director of the social service agency in the middle of the so-called "caged kids" case in northern Ohio has resigned.

Erich Dumbeck will leave June first as director of Huron County Job and Family Services. He says criticism of the agency over the "caged kids" case played a role in his decision.

Dumbeck had initially said, incorrectly it turned out, that his agency had no contacts with the Gravelle family. Michael and Sharen Gravelle have since been convicted of keeping some of their eleven, special-needs adopted children in wire and wood enclosures.
