Authorities Have Cancelled the 2007 Cleveland Breast Cancer 3-Day Closing Ceremonies

CLEVELAND - August 19, 2007 - The 2007 Cleveland Breast Cancer 3-Day Closing Ceremonies scheduled for Sunday, August 19 at 4:30 p.m., has been cancelled today because of inclement weather. Participants will complete the walk as planned, but there will be no official ceremony for friends and family.

Friends and family can pick up participants at Willard Lot, off Lakeside Avenue or the Municipal Lot off E. 9th and South Marginal Road. Participants are scheduled to complete the walk around 4 p.m. We encourage you to contact walkers to confirm the time of their arrival.

Gear retrieval will be located near the corner of Franz Pastorious Blvd. and St. Clair Ave., at the south end of Mall B.

"We have cancelled the outdoor Closing Ceremonies for the comfort and safety of the participants, family and friends of the Cleveland Breast Cancer 3-Day. Safety is our number one concern at this event," said Pat Renzulli, Vice President of the Breast Cancer 3-Day. "We hope everyone will recognize the dedicated Breast Cancer 3-Day participants and volunteers who have been training, fundraising and devoting their time for months to help fight breast cancer."

More than 1,100 walkers and 240 crew members raised more than $2.8 million for the breast cancer movement this weekend.

Organizers guarantee the funds raised to date will be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund to support breast cancer research, education and community outreach programs.
