Cavs Guard Named To World Championship Team

CLEVELAND (AP) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Andre Miller was selected Tuesday to compete in this summer's World Championships in Indianapolis.

Miller helped the United States win the gold medal at the 2001 Goodwill Games, averaging 7.4 points and four assists a game.

The USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team Committee also selected Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics and Raef LaFrentz of the Dallas Mavericks. Two more players will be named later.

Jason Williams of Duke was selected as an alternate. One other player from the collegiate ranks will be named as an alternate later.

Seven NBA players were selected Nov. 1: Jason Kidd, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal, Antonio Davis, Shawn Marion and Michael Finley. Milwaukee Bucks coach George Karl will lead the team.
