City Asking People To Boil Water Because Of Water Main Break

KENT, Ohio - A water main break in Kent means that residents there will have to boil their water before drinking or cooking, Action News reported.

A break in a 12-inch water main caused a depressurization of the water distribution system in certain sections of the city. Service has been restored in the effected areas, but the water should not be used for drinking or food preparation until further notice.

City officials said that they are testing the water and will let people know when it's safe to drink. Water test procedures take a minimum of 30 hours after service is restored.

The boil order is in effect for the following sections of the city of Kent:
  • All of Overholt Road
  • All of Enterprise Way
  • Mogadore Road between Overholt Road and State Route 261
  • Land O Lakes Processing Plant at 2001 Mogadore Road
  • ACS Industires at 2151 Mogadore Road
  • Cherry Street east of Mogadore Road
  • WSW Industries at 2161 Mogadore Road
