Convicted Killer Files Appeal On Innocence Claim

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A man scheduled to be executed in August for murdering an East Cleveland man during a robbery has appealed his conviction.

Greg Lott was sentenced to die on Aug. 27 for the 1986 murder of John McGrath, who was attacked and set on fire in his home.

Attorneys for Greg Lott said that prosecutors concealed evidence that could have pointed to Lott's innocence.

They said that a jury was never told that McGrath described a suspect physically different from Lott before he died.

Joe Case, a spokesman for Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery, said that the state is reviewing the appeal filed with the Ohio Supreme Court on Wednesday.
