Man Shot During 7-Hour Police Standoff

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A seven-hour police standoff ended Wednesday morning in the northeast Ohio city of North Ridgeville.

It's the second lengthy standoff in northeast Ohio in the past two days.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot and people screaming at approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers found that 73-year-old Clemon Bridges had been shot in the left shoulder. A 58-year-old woman at the scene told police that the shooter was inside Bridges' house with a gun.

Police spotted 59-year-old Lawrence Coreno of Maple Heights inside the house several times, but he refused to come out. Police said that he finally surrendered at approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Two guns and some other weapons were removed from the home.

Bridges was treated and released from the hospital. No charges have been filed yet.
