Homeowner Must Cover Cost Of Wind-Damaged Fixtures

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - Some homeowners are learning they must pay to fix electrical equipment on their homes damaged by the wind storm before power can be restored.

The cost to repair the meter box and the weather head, a fixture connecting power lines to the meter box, can be hundreds of dollars.

Duke Energy spokeswoman Kathy Meinke says power can't be restored until such equipment is properly and safely repaired.

The company says mobile home residents are also responsible for the service pole and the service line that leads from the pole to the meter.

American Electric Power says customers who notice a neighbor's power is on while theirs is still off could have a problem unique to their house.
