Hit By Bus: Man Struck By RTA Bus, Critically Injured

UPDATE: Cleveland, OH - A 66-year-old man is critically injured after he's hit by an RTA bus early Tuesday morning.

19 Action News has learned victim was struck at W. 6th & W. Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland at 6:15AM.

Officials said the bus was westbound on Superior Avenue and stopped at a traffic light on West Sixth Street, in front of the State Office Building.

When the operator received a green left-turn arrow, she turned left onto West Prospect Avenue.

The man was reportedly eastbound in the crosswalk when the accident occurred.

The victim was pinned underneath the bus for a short time and was freed by firefighters a short time later.

The operator has had a good driving record since joining RTA on May 14th, 2001. She was taken in for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Cleveland Police are investigating.
