Wright Recalled To Replace Baez In Rotation

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Indians placed Jason Phillips on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Right-hander Jaret Wright was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo and will join the Indians rotation. Wright has split the year between Cleveland, Buffalo and the disabled list.

Phillips complained of elbow soreness following his start Tuesday night against Detroit. He was also on the DL at Buffalo in May and June with similar elbow soreness.

Phillips was 1-3 with a 4.97 ERA in eight appearances with the Indians.

Wright will start Friday against Boston, replacing Danys Baez in the rotation. Baez was moved to the bullpen to serve as the closer.

During his latest stint in Buffalo, Wright was 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA in four starts.
