Uninvited guests at New Year’s Eve party in Cleveland open fire, killing 3 and injuring 2 others

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland police say three people died as a result of a shooting and two others were injured on the city’s West side just before midnight at a party on New Year’s Eve.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of Denison Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m. Monday for a shooting at New Year’s Eve party hosted at an Airbnb, according to the Cleveland Police Department.

Investigators say a group of males arrived uninvited and opened fire when they were asked to leave, striking five victims.

A 19-year-old and a 22-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds died at the scene. A third victim, a 25-year-old man, was transported to MetroHealth Hospital, but died while arriving to the hospital.

Police also found two additional victims who were shot. A 23-year-old woman was treated for a gunshot wound to her arm and released from MetroHealth Hospital. A 21-year-old man was also shot and taken to MetroHealth Hospital for a gunshot wound to his head.

The suspects fled from the scene and the firearms have not yet been recovered.

The incident is still under investigation.
