Akron police investigating murder of 23-year-old

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - JuJuan Weems, 23, was killed in Akron last night. Police say that Weems had been shot three times in the last five years.

Officers responded to calls at 692 Roselle Avenue around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night. They found Weems lying on the porch with a gunshot to the head. He was taken to the Akron General Medical Center, where he died.

Weems is on the Akron Police Department's Cease Fire list, which names criminals with repeat violent offenses. He had been shot on Oct. 1, 2011 at a bar on West Crosier Street and on Feb. 2 of this year while in a car on South Street.

An autopsy is scheduled for today. The Summit County Medical Examiner and the Akron Police Department are investigating.

No further information on the victim or the suspect is available at this time.
