Gordmans opening third Northeast Ohio store Sept. 22

PARMA, OH (WOIO) - Before Gordmans opens in Parma on Sept. 22, there were only three other stores in the state. There are Northeast Ohio stores in Mentor and Aurora and one in Cinncinati.

The new 45,000-square-foot store will open at 8253 W. Ridgewood Dr. as part of the overhaul at The Shoppes of Parma.

Gordmans, a Nebraska-based store, offers discounted home decor items and clothes for men and women.

Once the Parma store opens, Gordmans will operate 106 stores in 62 markets and 22 states. The Shoppes at Parma location is Gordmans' fourth store in Ohio. Over the past six years, Gordmans has increased its store base by about 40%.

The new store's Grand Opening festivities will take place Sept. 24 and 25. On Saturday, there will be a free gift to the first 300 guests – a shopping tote with gifts and a Gordmans gift card worth up to $200. Guests also will enjoy drawings for gift cards worth $25, $50 and $100.

As part of Gordmans' Grand Opening activities, Buckwalter will present a check for $2,500 to Parma City School District to launch the retailer's Partners in Education fundraising events. Partners in Education is a program through which businesses make additional educational resources available to local public school systems. Gordmans' guests may join in by purchasing "helping hands" for $1 each. Every dollar raised will directly benefit Parma City School District. Since its involvement with Partners in Education, which began in 2000, Gordmans has contributed more than $1 million to public school systems in markets where Gordmans has stores. The new Gordmans store has selected Thoreau Park Elementary School as its partner school.
