Akron police find man shot to death in car

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 30-year-man was shot and killed while in his car Monday evening, Akron police said.

Officers got to the 800 block of Sumner Street around 7 p.m. Monday and found a vehicle over the curb and in the front yard.

In the driver’s seat of the car was the victim, J’Rome Arteece Ely, who police said had gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

Ely was pronounced dead at the scene.

Akron police said they think at least one person approached the victim’s car and started shooting.

Police said they don’t know of any suspects at this time.
