Committee aims to properly inform Hispanic community about HIV, other diseases
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A local organization is helping its community by offering free HIV tests and flu and Covid vaccines.
The Spanish American Committee hosted an event in Ohio City Friday to help spread the message within the Hispanic and Latino community.
Their goal is to inform these communities that help is available.
“A lot of this information reaches our community, but it doesn’t reach the Latino community,” CEO of the committee Ramonita Vargas said. “We’ve put it out there so that the Latino community can get more involved and learn, and find out what’s going on.”
The Spanish American Committee says they plan on continuing events like these in the future.
“What a better place than a place that is well-known in our community,” Vargas said. “We have children in our childcare center, of kids that came to our childcare center. So it’s been here so long, that generation after generation after generation keep coming back.”
