Former Cleveland Cavalier J.R. Smith arrested on assault charge in Texas

HUNT COUNTY, Texas (WOIO) - Former Cleveland Cavalier J.R. Smith was arrested Tuesday in Texas, according to records.

According to Hunt County Jail records, Smith was arrested on a charge of assault causing bodily injury family violence.

He is still being held at the Hunt County Detention Center, and records show that no bond has been set.

Smith played 16 seasons in the NBA and won championships with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 before he retired.
