Former DHS secretary Kristi Noem files for divorce from husband of 34 years

CASTLEWOOD, S.D. (KSFY/Gray News) — Former South Dakota Gov. and former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband, Bryon Noem.

Court documents show that the divorce was filed on Monday in Hamlin County on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

Kristi and Bryon Noem have been married since 1992.

They have three children: daughters Kassidy, 31, Kennedy, 29, and son Booker, 23.

Noem, 54, was fired by President Donald Trump in March from her position as secretary of Homeland Security.

Days later, the couple made headlines when The Daily Mail reported that Bryon Noem paid adult entertainers and dressed as a woman while role-playing.

After the report was published, a spokesperson for Kristi Noem told the New York Post that she was “devastated” by the news, adding, “The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time.”

According to ABC News, as a result of the divorce proceedings, and per South Dakota law, the parties are under a temporary restraining order.
