CHAGRIN FALLS, OH (WOIO) - The 56-year-old cook pleaded guilty today to shooting and killing two housekeepers at Hamlet Village Assisted Living in March he and received a 66 year to life sentence.

On the morning of March 24, 2016, Frank Staton, 56, fatally shot Catherine Sutter, 58, of Burton and Terri Treadway, also 58, of Chardon, before turning the gun on himself. All three were employees at Hamlet Village.

Staton and Treadway were in a relationship at the time of the shooting. Burton and Treadway were both pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Staton suffered one gunshot wound and survived.

Staton pleaded guilty to eight total counts of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault. Judge Timothy McCormick accepted his plea and sentenced him to 66 years to life in prison.

After impassioned statements by the victim's family and friends, Judge McCormick asked Staton if he had an explanation about why he killed the two women to which Staton replied "I don't have one."

"This defendant robbed two wonderful families of their grandmother, mother, wife, sister, friend, and so much more," said Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Margaret Troia, who represented the State of Ohio along with Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maxwell Martin. "We can only hope this lengthy sentence can help them as they continue to deal with this senseless and violent act."
