3 juveniles questioned after boy found shot dead in home, Akron police say
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron Police said a boy was found shot dead Thursday afternoon inside a North Hill neighborhood home from a “tragic incident” detectives are working to solve.
Lt. Michael Miller said officers were sent to a home in the 100 block of Dayton Place just before 5 p.m. for what was initially considered “an unknown problem.”
The Summit County Medical Examiner said officers arrived and found a 10-year-old boy dead from an apparent gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom.
No one else was found inside the home when police arrived on scene, according to Miller.
Miller said Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office members and Crime Scene Unit investigators arrived and processed the scene.
The Summit County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, Miller stated.
The victim’s name and age are being withheld until he has been positively identified and more family members have been notified.
Detectives found and questioned multiple people, including at least three other juveniles, who were seen leaving the home before police arrived, according to Miller.
“The investigation is in the early stages and detectives are still working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this tragic incident,” Miller stated.
Miller said there is no other information available at this time in the sudden death investigation.
