Joe Flacco facing cloudy future: ‘I don’t think anyone’s gonna pay him to be a starting quarterback’
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Free agent Joe Flacco, who led the Browns on a surprising playoff run, probably won’t get a starting NFL job this season, according to former NFL general Randy Mueller.
Mueller, formerly with the Saints and Dolphins, told 19 News that Flacco should have backup offers but cautioned that “everything comes with a price.”
Free agent tampering begins Monday; the first day players can officially sign is next Wednesday, March 13.
The Browns are expecting Deshaun Watson to be healthy and reclaim his starting role.
Flacco went 4-2 in 6 starts last season, throwing 14 TD passes and 10 interceptions.
The Browns were eliminated in the wild-card game at Houston, 45-14. Flacco was picked off twice that day and sacked 4 times.
Flacco just turned 39 in January.
