Cleveland Cavaliers outlast Minnesota in overtime thriller

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Cavaliers held off Minnesota, the best team in the West, 113-104 in overtime Friday night.

The game was the first of the season aired on Cleveland’s CW 43 and Telemundo Cleveland.

Darius Garland had 34 points and 6 assists for Cleveland (41-22), which played without injured starters Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Max Strus.

Jarrett Allen scored 33 points with 18 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 46 minutes.

Naz Reid hit 7 of 11 three-pointers and led Minnesota with 34.

Anthony Edwards, questionable to play with an ankle injury, was held to just 19 points on 7 of 27 shooting.

The Cavs led by 4 at the half but trailed 80-79 after three quarters.

There are 4 more Cavs games scheduled for CW 43; the next one is Wednesday March 20 against Miami.

The Cavs return to action Sunday, hosting the Brooklyn Nets.

Then on Monday the Phoenix Suns pay their only visit of the season to Cleveland.
