Man dead, young girl hurt in shooting on Cleveland’s East Side

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A shooting on Cleveland’s East Side Wednesday night hospitalized two people, one of whom is a young girl, according to investigators.

Dispatchers with the Cleveland Division of Police said EMS transported an approximately 9-year-old girl with minor injuries to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital following the shooting in the 400 block of E. 108th Street, which occurred around 10:50 p.m.

Cleveland EMS dispatchers said they also transported a man with gunshot wounds to University Hospitals. His current condition is unknown.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office says the 25-year-old man, identified as Lapriese Wells, of Cleveland, died from his injuries.

The motive of the shooting is unknown. There are also no known suspects in the shooting.
