CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Emergency crews pulled a 11-year-old from Lake Erie at Euclid Beach Park Saturday afternoon who later died at the hospital.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, the child was identified as Anthony Lenix Jr. of Cleveland.

According to Cleveland Metroparks, the child was outside of the swim area when pulled from the water. Jordan Lee was at Euclid Beach and says she tried to warn the child to be careful, “I saw him. He was going too deep. and then he went past the rocks. I kept screaming at him telling him to come back towards the shore.”

According to Cleveland EMS, the ambulance arrived on scene and broke down while attempting to take the victim to the hospital.

The child was transferred to a rescue squad and then taken to the hospital.

But beachgoers who frequent the park tell 19 News, the major issue is that children are swimming in restricted areas, where there are no lifeguards.
