Cuyahoga County Sheriff deputy involved in shooting that sent 15-year-old to hospital

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cuyahoga County Sheriff deputy was involved in a shooting Thursday night that sent a teenager to the hospital in serious condition, according to Cuyahoga County spokesperson.

Cuyahoga County Spokeswoman Jennifer Ciaccia confirmed with 19 News that a deputy was involved in shooting at Superior and East 26th Street.

Cleveland Police said that the non-fatal shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Ciaccia told 19 News that the individual shot was treated at MetroHospital and the two other suspects in this incident were taken into custody.

19 News confirmed a 15-year-old male was taken to MetroHealth Hospital and has since been treated and released.

Cleveland Police said three suspects were taken into custody.

Ciaccia said the deputy was taken to Lutheran Hospital to be medically evaluated and was released.

Cleveland Police and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office closed down the portion of street last night in Cleveland Asiatown area.

Superior Avenue was shut down last night from East 24th to East 30th.

Cleveland Police said the matter is currently under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police Force Investigation Team and information will be released as it becomes available.
