Elyria crash victim released from hospital gets new bike
ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - 10-year-old Elyria crash victim Aiden Helland got a brand new bike Thursday evening.
Aiden was released from the hospital and is recovering from injuries that he received in an Oct. 12 accident that tragically took the life of his friend 9-year-old Bryant “Tide” Bartlett.
Officers gave Aiden a new bicycle and helmet courtesy of Walmart in Elyria along with Halloween treats and gift cards donated by the Sailorway Middle School PTA in Vermilion.
Aiden also received bike locks, lights, and other safety items from Lorain County Public Health through the Elyria Safe Routes to School program.
The Elyria Police Department wanted to extend their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Bryant “Tide” Bartlett.
Elyria police said the investigation remains open and is ongoing.
