How a Lorain County bakery is honoring the legacy of beloved owner who passed away
LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Dennis Looney lost his wife Janette just six months ago to a brain hemorrhage.
”She was a delightful human being,“ Looney said about Janette. ”And the reason why all of us come to Nothing But Cakes, to bring joy to the community.”
The couple owns several Nothing Bundt Cakes bakeries in Northeast Ohio.
Janette’s sudden passing shocked her family, friends, and the community.
On Wednesday, her husband and their employees cut the ribbon at their new shop in Amherst.
They remember Janette as having a huge heart.
She always gave back and wanted her employees to feel loved.
It turns out, Janette was an organ donor. She was able to help over 120 people.
”It really changed our perspective on what organ and tissue donation really is. And Lifebanc was instrumental helping us get through a very challenging time,” said Looney.
To honor Janette and help even more people, this week Looney is having 10% of all proceeds from the Nothing Bundt Cakes Amherst location benefit Lifebanc.
On Saturday, Nov. 16, 20% of the proceeds from the Amherst, Avon, and Strongsville locations will go towards Lifebanc.
“If she knew the impact she was having on so many lives, she would be tremendously proud,” said Looney.
