Michigan man charged in fatal Lorain County crash
LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Michigan man was charged in the fatal crash that killed a 69-year-old man Saturday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
In a release, OSHP said troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 18 near Quarry Road in Brighton Township.
A 2023 Dodge Charger, operated by 25-year-old Jule Tussaint of Michigan, was traveling eastbound on State Route 18 when it struck a 2005 Toyota Corolla operated by 69-year-old Robert Bilbrey head-on, according to the release.
Troopers said Tussaint failed to maintain control and traveled left of center before hitting Bilbrey.
South Lorain County EMS and the Wellington Fire Department attempted life-saving measures on Bilbrey, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tussaint and his passenger were both treated for injuries at the scene and released.
Sunday morning, OSHP updated its release with the charges against Tussaint for vehicular homicide through the Oberlin Municipal Court.
The crash is still under investigation and Troopers do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor.
