Former Cleveland ace CC Sabathia elected to Baseball Hall of Fame
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Former Cleveland ace CC Sabathia has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Sabathia, 44, won 251 games in 19 MLB seasons, eight of those with the Cleveland Indians.
He went 106-71 with a 3.83 ERA for Cleveland, then was traded to Milwaukee in 2008 before signing with the Yankees.
Sabathia made six All-Star teams and won the Cy Young award in 2007, going 19-7 with the Indians.
Only two lefthanders (Steve Carlton and Randy Johnson) have more career strikeouts than Sabathia’s 3,093.
He was Cleveland’s first-round pick in 1998 out of Vallejo, Calif.
Sabathia got 86% of the vote.
Ichiro Suzuki (99%) and Billy Wagner (82%) were also elected.
Seventy-five percent is required for election.
