Report: Cleveland expected to be the WNBA’s 16th expansion team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The WNBA is set to return to Cleveland in 2028. According to Sports Business Journal’s Tom Friend, Cleveland is expected to join the league.

Cleveland was previously home to the Rockers from 1998 until the organization folded in 2003. Reports indicate that the team will retain the original “Rockers” name. However, the deal has not yet been finalized.
