Bedford Police find 31-year-old Cleveland man dead in car

BEDFORD, Ohio (WOIO) - Bedford Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man Friday night.

According to a release from Bedford Police, at around 5:50 p.m., officers responded to Northfield Road near Rockside Road for reports of shots fired.

Officers found 31-year-old Clarence Houston of Cleveland seated in the driver seat of a black Ford Explorer.

Police said Houston had no signs of life.

Callers to 911 were clearly shocked by the attack at a busy intersection, in broad daylight.

“They just shot the truck up Boo,” said one 911 caller. “In the middle of the road. The man is in the middle of the road -- he’s in a car dead.”

“I was just on Northfield at Rockside and I heard five gunshots and there’s a car in the middle of the street with the door one, I think somebody got shot,” another caller told police.

Bedford Fire transported Houston to Metro Health, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim’s family has been notified.

Bedford Police Department detectives continue to investigate this incident.
