Monsters come up short 3-1 to Stars

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - After getting out to an early lead, the Cleveland Monsters came up short 3-1 to the Texas Stars.

Luca Del Bel Belluz got the Monsters on the board at 14:23 of the opening frame off helpers from Mikael Pyyhtia and Hunter McKown.

Texas would score back-to-back goals in the middle frame from Kole Lind and Kyle Looft to take the lead headed into the third.

The Stars put the game out of reach with an empty-net goal from Matěj Blümel at 18:04 in the third to make it 3-1.

Monsters’ Jet Greaves made 27 saves in his bobblehead night, while Texas’ Remi Poirier stopped 21 shots.

With the loss, the Monsters are now 31-21-5-6 and in fourth place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
