CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Monsters were hoping to clinch a playoff spot on Wednesday night with a win over the Americans in Rochester, but the home team had other ideas.

With the score tied 1-1 after the first period, the Amerks got a lead in the second when Zachary Metsa scored at 12:37.

Rochester added two more goals in the third to put the game out of reach.

The Monsters lone tally came from Luca Del Bel Belluz at 13:01 in the first period.

With the loss, the Monsters are now 35-23-5-6 and in fifth place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
