OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - Police officers donated a bike Tuesday morning to a teenager injured after being struck by a vehicle.
Olmsted Township Police said Alex was hit while riding his bike with friends in Columbia Station a few weeks ago.
Olmsted Township Police Officer Kirby, who is acquainted with Alex, visited him after he was released from the hospital and learned his bike had been destroyed in the crash.
Since there were several unclaimed, abandoned bicycles at the police station, Officer Kirby had one refurbished and delivered to Alex.
The teenager also received a brand new helmet.
