Akron woman picks up a million pieces of trash

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron woman picked up one million pieces of trash.

In February 2023, Debbie Miller started her mission to pick up a million pieces of trash, and after two years, she completed it.

She was inspired to begin cleaning up her block after her dog cut his nose on a piece of broken glass.

Through the project, she discovered how much she loves being able to help beautify her neighborhood.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Shammas Malik congratulated the Firestone resident on completing her mission.

In her blog, Miller shared she has picked up 1,426 pieces of broken glass, hundreds of needles, 944 nails, bolts and screws, a dozen knives and even a gun.
