Teen arrested after shooting Uber driver multiple times: Akron Police
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - U.S. Marshals arrested a teen in connection with the Uber driver shot multiple times on July 17.

After Akron Police identified the suspect, Marshals arrested 18-year-old Jaiden Palmer on Wednesday afternoon in the 1900 block of Shaw Avenue.
According to a release from Akron Police, officers responded to the 500 block of Sanford Avenue at around 9:24 p.m. on July 17 for reports of a shooting.
Police said Palmer grabbed the 39-year-old Uber driver from behind, brandished a firearm, and demanded her belongings before shooting her six times.
“My first thing is to tell my kids to hit the floor, and then my second thing is to call 911,” says Diane, who lives just feet from where the car sat during the shooting. “You’re just praying they survive, you’re wondering, do they have kids, are they going to be ok, and you feel so helpless, cause what are you going to do?”
Police said the woman was driving for Uber and had picked up two men.
After the shooting, the two men then fled the scene on foot and remain at large.
The woman was taken to Summa Health Akron and is now stable, according to police.
“I would advise anyone who is driving for rideshare apps, if they feel as though there is something suspicious or the circumstances surrounding one of their rides seem off, they have the ability to cancel the ride or contact the Akron police department so we can look into it,” said Akron PD Lt. Michael Murphy.
“We are shocked and sickened by this violence. Our thoughts are with the driver, and are reaching out to them to check in. We’ve banned the rider from the Uber platform, and are continuing to investigate the incident. We’ve been in touch with police, and will fully support their efforts to bring those responsible for this horrific act to justice.”
